DAY ONE: 3RD OCTOBER
TIME EVENT
09.00 Hrs - His Royal Highness Chief Mungaila, Guest of Honour, other guests and the general
public move to the Shimunenga Shrine.
- Paying of homage to Shimunenga.
- Traditional dances at the Shrine (kukonkaula).
10.00 Hrs - All guests and the general public move to Headman Kaande’s (Custodian of the
Shimunenga Ceremony) village.
- Traditional dances.
10.45 Hrs - His Royal Highness, Guest of Honour, other guests and the general public move to the
Royal Palace.
- Welcome traditional dances (bukwabikwabi) by female dancers of the Maala Cultural
Group.
- Welcome remarks by the Chairperson of the Shimunenga Organizing Committee.
- Recognition of the area MP, traditional rulers and other distinguished guests.
- Introduction of the Guest of Honour and other guests by the Provincial
Minister/District Commissioner.
- Traditional dance by the male dancers of the Maala Cultural Group.
- Traditional song (chiyabilo).
- Speech by His Royal Highness Chief Mungaila through his representative.
- Performance of the war mimic dance (kukwenzha) by the Maala Cultural Group.
- Speech by the Guest of Honour.
- Traditional dances by the Maala Cultural Group.
13.30 Hrs - Lunch and other traditional activities within Maala – all are free to participate.
16.00 Hrs - Guest of Honour and other guests proceed to Lubunda to witness cattle being brought
for the ceremony cross the Kafue River from the plains (kulutanga)
END OF DAY ONE

DAY TWO: 4TH OCTOBER
08.30 Hrs - Arrival of His Royal Highness Chief Mungaila, Guest
of Honour, other guests and the general public at
Nalubwelubwe
Parade
- Headman Kande’s cattle followed by His Royal
Highness Chief Mungaila’s cattle are driven through
Nalubwelubwe to the Kafue Flats
- Other villagers’ cattle are driven through
Nalubwelubwe to the Flats
- Performance of the war mimic dance (kukwenzha)
- Performance of the Shifwundwe (pelican) play
- Performance of the Lion hunting (kuweza Shuumbwa)
