Namwala, September 9-ZANIS-MEMBERS of the Namwala District HIV/AIDS Taskforce[NADTF] have expressed concern at the lack of cooperation among the community in Chibote in Chief Nalubamba’s area to construct a community school after funds were long released.
During a meeting called to form another committee to spearhead the construction of the school today, NADTF Vice Chairperson Mr Patrick Kalaluka said the community have shown the worst kind of behavior in failing to finish constructing the school despite the funds been availed to them last year.
The community were assisted with about K98 Million by the Community response to HIV/AIDS [CRAIDS] after they applied for a school project .
Mr Kalaluka who is also District Community Development Officer wondered why the community had failed to finish the school after they have bought building materials.
“ this kind of behavior you have exhibited is the worst of its kind and it is sad that in this time and era we still have communities that fail to develop their areas despite been giving all the resources,” said Mr Kalaluka.
The community has only managed to build the foundation for the school with building materials such as cement reportedly going to waste..
And the newly formed committee pledged to work hard and oversee the construction of the school.
Communities in Chief Nalubamba are notorious for lack of commitment to finish most developmental projects despite been given funds. This trend has continued even after sensitization has been made.
