Namwala, August 22-GOVERNMENT says it would not condone laziness among communities and would not hesitate to take away developmental projects from such communities that frustrate its efforts, Namwala District Commissioner Mr Wilson Sianduka has said.

And Police Second commanding Officer for Choma District region, Dennis Mwiinga warned people against enticing Police Officer with bribes in an attempt to have their cases resolved quickly.

Mr Siaduka said government was in a hurry to develop infrastructure in the District and as such it [government] is mindful of the timeframe to finish these projects and report back to donors.

The Commissioner said communities that show laziness would have these projects taken to communities that have the zeal to work.

Addressing people of Mbeza area during a meeting for Chief Bright Nalubamba to enable his subjects air their grievances over a number of issues, Mr Sianduka said it was important for people to appreciate government’s efforts to develop their areas by showing seriousness in meeting the required parameters.

Mr Sianduka was responding to issues raised by the District Education Board secretary Mr Munamukuni Shandele over the delay by communities in areas such as Makotolo, and Katowa in helping to bring upfront materials for the construction of 1by 3 classrooms block respectively.

"Am saddened to hear that communities in Katowa and Makotolo have failed to bring upfront materials for the construction of classroom blocks.  This sing of laziness and lack of seriousness will not be tolerated by government," said Mr Sianduka.

And Chief Nalubamba pleaded with the education authorities not to take the two school projects elsewhere and committed himself to ensure that his subjects bring all the required upfront materials.

"I can assure you Commissioner that am ready to spend nights at these two school sites just to make sure that all that is required in meet by my people," Chief Nalubamba said.

On complaints by the people in the area that Police Officers were in the habit of asking for money for them to do their duties, Mr Sianduka assured that people that he would not hesitate to recommend for transfer of any bad elements among police officers in the  district.

He also said he would work closely with the Police command at provincial level to ensure that police officer execute their duties diligently and professionally to preclude any incidences of corruption.

And Second commanding Officer for Choma region Dennis Mwiinga, said people should desist from enticing Police Officers with money if alleged corruption could come to an end in the District.

He observed that people in the District had a habit of bribing Officer in order to have their cases resolved outside court.

"You people also shoulder the blame because you always want cases to end faster so you bribe Officers who are easily tempted," said Mr Mwiinga. "But when an Officer ask you for money ask them what it if for and then let them to give you a receipt," he added.

Mr Mwiinga also warned Police Officers in the District against asking for bribes from people adding stern action would be taken any Officer found wanting.

Mr Mwiinga further advised the people to have undisputable evidence when they report a case to avoid their cases been dismissed.
