In his press statement dated August 8,2009 and obtained by ZANIS today, Chief Muchila said he read with surprise and shock over remarks made by Chief Nalubamba that traditional leaders in the province regret supporting president Rupiah Banda.
Chief Muchila said he was principled and could not be pulled into politics and eventually end up been called an opportunist.
Chief Muchila has joined several other traditional leaders in the province who distanced themselves from Chief Nalubamba’s statement in one of the daily tabloids.
He explained that Chief Nalubamba was not a spokes person of chiefs in the province and therefore had no right to speak on behalf of all the traditional rulers in the region.
He said he would always support the government to bring development to his area which his subjects need.
But Chief Nalubamba last week said his statements were his own opinion and not those of other chiefs in the province.
