Namwala, June 11-ZANIS-NAMWALA District administrative officer Mr Godwin Sanjase has advised farmers in the District not to sale all their maize to the Food Reserve Agency [FRA]but leave enough for consumption until the next farming season.

During a meeting with villagers at Chilumino yesterday, Mr Sanjase advised the farmers to sale only excess maize produce to FRA.
He noted that the District was posed for a bumper maize harvest and it would not augur well to lobby for relief if farmers are careless in selling all their maize.

We expect a good bumper harvest in the District and am appealing to all the farmers in the District to be cautious as they sale their maize to FRA and leave enough maize for their own consumption,” said Mr Sanjase.

“We do not want a situation where you sale all the maize and start crying for relief food from the government,” he added.

And Mr Sanjase warned farmers with surplus maize to sale their produce to FRA in order for them to gain profits and enable them buy farming inputs for the next farming season.

At the same gathering Mr Sanjase also took the opportunity to encourage farmers in the area to apply for loans from the Citizenship Economic Empowerment funds [CEE] for them to engage in economic activities that would help to alleviate poverty in the area.

Meanwhile, vChilumino villagers complained that the construction of the community school was taking long to complete. The 1by 3 classroom block is been constructed with fund from the constituency development funds at of about K50 Million.
