This programme is focused on improving livelihoods and income through the protection of livestock. The main aim of the project is to increase income through diversification of livestock and teach community members about crop management, and thus eradicate poverty. They are also involved in other social intervention programmes such as those associated with HIV / AIDS.
The focal areas of intervention are:
EDUCATION
- promotion of adult literacy through the REFLECT methodology in cattle clubs
- supply of teaching and learning materials
- sponsorship of children (the "back to school" campaign)
INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES
- training in small business management
- dispersement of micro-credit loans for PLWHA's and women from cattle clubs
- dispersement of livestock loans
- CBO Capacity Building in Micro-Loans Management
AGRICULTURE
- establish and strengthen market linkages
- facilitate crop and livestock diversification
- protection of livestock from disease and restocking small livestock
- facilitate the establishment of a seed security scheme (seed multiplication)
